Together with book publisher Titan Comics and NFT community ComicsDAO, Web3 community NounsDAO is creating a comic book series to add to the story of its NFT collection. NounsDAO has given today’s metaverse news a pleasant surprise.
The story of the tokens in the Nouns ecosystem will be told in the “Nouns: Nountown” comics. The series will be written by David Leach, who is a senior editor at Titan. The pictures will be drawn by Danny Schlitz, who has worked for Disney, Marvel, Netflix, and Warner Brothers.
When the comic books come out as NFTs in April, they will be put in a safe vault by the Web3 security company 4K Protocol. After the book has been “minted,” buyers can trade their digital tokens for a physical copy or buy the book in stores.
Adam Fortier, a veteran of the comics industry and the founder of ComicsDAO, told CoinDesk that he is excited about how Web3 technologies are giving old kinds of content new life.
Fortier said, “If there was any space that embodied the essence of NFT in the physical world, it would be comic books. They’re totally interested in different stories, and willing to try something out, but you also have the collectible aspect.”
The project also wants to add to the Nouns’ intellectual property (IP), which is protected by a CC0 copyright. A co-founder of Nouns 4156 who asked to remain anonymous said that the release of a physical and digital comic book will inspire community members to think of new ways to make the brand more creative.
“The goal was always to try to make something that could become the biggest open-source brand in the world,” 4156 said. “This specific partnership is another step in that direction.”
Nouns creates new generative NFTs based on Ethereum every day to pay for its DAO. It has been putting money into other Web3 projects for the past few months. In December, Nouns and the Australian Open announced that they would work together to make an NFT collection based on the tennis tournament. The DAO has also paid for a float in the Rose Parade in 2023 and a Budweiser ad during the Super Bowl.
