Veterans of the video game business choose ImmutableX to make their AAA Web3 RPG

Metaverse Game Studios said today that it will build its next RPG game, Angelique, on the Ethereum-based Web3 platform. The people who made the game are veterans of the industry who have worked on games like Diablo Immortal, Destiny, and Far Cry.

Metaverse Game Studio will use ImmutableX to make a AAA Web3 RPG

Metaverse Game Studios is making a dark sci-fi AAA narrative RPG, according to the announcement. The company wants to appeal to Web2 and Web3 users by giving Unreal Engine 5 high-definition graphics and making them work well with blockchain-based ownership of digital collectibles.

The developers say they chose ImmutableX because their values are similar and the platform has shown it can provide “fast, secure, gas-free mining and a smooth, high-quality gaming experience.” ImmutableX already has some popular Web3 games like Gods Unchained and Illuvium, and it has teamed up with GameStop to build an NFT marketplace.

Metaverse Game Studios is also excited to use ImmutableX’s benefits, like the zero-knowledge (ZK) proof-of-scaling technology. Andrew Sorokowski of Immutable was excited to be a part of making Web3 games that are as good as AAA games.

” It’s great to see major AAA-level gaming companies like Metaverse Games Studio actively pursuing a digital ownership and player-led gaming model. We are thrilled to offer ImmutableX’s full suite of tools and solutions and collaborate with their team to deliver the fairest, most inclusive and innovative Web3 experience for all Angelic players.”

Angelique, which had a successful $10 million seeding round in March 2022, plans to have a limited alpha for a few players in the first quarter of 2023 and a full release in the second quarter of the same year.

Web3 gaming is growing

Even though the “crypto winter” is still going on and the market value of digital assets has dropped by $2 trillion in a year, Web3 gaming seems to be getting more popular. A report from September said that 59% of all gaming investments made in the second quarter of 2022 were in crypto games.

Established companies are also becoming more and more interested in Web3 gaming. Microsoft, the tech giant behind the Xbox home console, recently put $46 million into a company that makes Web3 games. This company is called Wemade. Bill Gates’s company is in the middle of the largest deal in the history of the industry to buy Activision—Blizzard, and it plans to fight the FTC’s plan to challenge the deal.

Sony, which is well-known for its video game consoles, is reportedly also thinking about NFTs. A recently published patent by the company could help Sony keep track of how digital assets made in a game are made, used, and transferred. But it’s important to keep in mind that the company’s plans for the non-fungible token aren’t completely clear because the patent was filed in 2021, when the NFT craze was at its peak.
