The “Decentraland” metaverse hosts the Darts World Cup

Düsseldorf, December 14, 2022 – Ismaning With the start of the Darts World Cup, darts enthusiasts can cheer on the competition of the world’s best in “Decentraland” and host their own darts competition. The winner of the competition will receive a trip for two to London on January 3 to attend the World Cup final. The partners SPORT1, the leading multichannel sports platform in the German-speaking region, and 42Meta, a leading Metaverse full-service agency and German pioneer in augmented branding and programmatic advertising in Web 3.0, have developed a ground-breaking virtual sports event in one of the most well-known Metaverses to date.

Tomorrow, the “Alexandra Palace” (“Ally Pally”) in London will welcome 96 competitors for the biggest darts tournament of the year. The duration of the tournament is till January 3, 2023. In addition to watching the significant international athletic event live on free television and the digital channels of SPORT1, fans can experience the Darts World Cup for the first time in the Metaverse, including their own virtual darts competition.

The Darts World Cup in the Metaverse is SPORT1 and 42Meta’s first Web 3.0 project. Decentraland, one of the most popular metaverses currently, was selected as the “venue” for the virtual sporting event and is already being used as an additional channel of communication by the world’s leading companies. 42Meta constructed a “Virtual Ally Pally” there for the duration of the World Cup, complete with a fan store, hall of fame, video walls, and the finest darts setting for SPORT1. Throughout the competition, darts fans can use their avatars to visit the Sports Palace in “Decentraland.”
