METAPIXEL, NPIXEL’s Web3 gaming ecosystem, is using the Aptos network to launch its first Web3 game.
NPIXEL, a South Korean Triple-A gaming studio, will release its first MMORPG Web3 game this year, following the announcement of its partnership with Aptos.
METAPIXEL, NPIXEL’s Web3 gaming ecosystem, is ready to release Gran Saga: Unlimited, the first Web3 MMORPG built on the Aptos network.
The game is based on the original Web2 Gran Saga intellectual property, a mobile & PC cross-platform anime-style MMORPG that was released in Korea and Japan in 2021, and worldwide in 2022. Since its release, it has received four million downloads from the Apple App Store in Korea, making it one of the most popular mobile games there.
Using METAPIXEL’s underlying blockchain technology powered by Aptos, gamers will be able to earn in-game assets and mint gaming equipment as NFTs, which they will subsequently be able to exchange on NFT marketplaces developed on the Aptos Network. The game will initially be released for PC, followed by iOS and Android.
Twitter has been receptive to the launch of Gran Saga: Unlimited, despite the fact that Web2 gamers have been known to contest gaming studios’ shift to Web3.
Through its partnership with NPIXEL, Aptos wants to deliver a fast and secure network on which developers and gamers can easily design and play games in a multi-asset, token-safe environment.
Aptos asserts that its mainnet has subsecond latency, making the gaming experience snappy and responsive. It also features safeguards designed to protect users at the blockchain layer, such as key rotation, account recovery, and transaction pre-execution, thereby safeguarding user assets.
METAPIXEL said that “Gran Saga: Unlimited will be a different genre to its flagship title and that it will be closer to a classic MMORPG style. Testing for the game will begin in Q1 this year, ahead of the global public release in Q2.”
The team will seek alpha testers via their Discord channel, to be activated soon. In the next months, METAPIXEL will conduct multiple playtests of the game to enhance its blockchain features before to the actual release.
