Nike announced the launch of its new non-fungible token (NFT) platform,.SWOOSH, on Wednesday, which enables users to create their own digital wearables. Starting on January 26th, we have some exciting metaverse news to share with you about Nike.
Nike’s virtual sneaker creator rewards
As a member of the.SWOOSH community, you’re invited to enter the #YourForce1 contest, for which you’ll be required to create an Instagram visual storyboard showcasing your footwear design. Four winners will receive $5,000 and have the opportunity to work with Nike designers to create a pair of custom digital sneakers.
Nike also stated that the four designs have a chance of being included in the company’s forthcoming first signature collection. This contest is currently open and will continue until January 29.

The Nike Web3 initiative has been in development for a considerable amount of time. Before releasing.SWOOSH in November, the company made its initial foray into the metaverse by acquiring digital fashion house RTFKT in October. Nike plans to begin implementing RFID and blockchain technology to track the supply chain in 2020.
