Soccer stars Neymar Jr. (Brazil), Son Heung-Min (South Korea), and Luis Figo (Portugal) have signed exclusive agreements with the Web3 sports platform NFTSTAR to create a sports metaverse on The Sandbox. Fans will be able to connect with the athletes in the “Global Sports Village” through meet-and-greets, AMAs, exclusive NFT drops, and a virtual sports arena.
Forj, another Animoca Brands company, worked with NFTSTAR to make this new sports game for The Sandbox. Forj is a Web3 brand experience provider. Ankr, Mantra DAO, Phala Network, Polygon, and The Sandbox have all worked with Forj.
Abe Ren, one of the co-founders of NFTSTAR, thinks that The Sandbox is the right metaverse for the Global Sports Village. Ren is hopeful that The Sandbox will assist NFTSTAR enhance its brand, star athletes, and proprietary NFTs. NFTSTAR is one of the best companies in the metaverse. And also grow the sports and gaming community around the world.
NFTSTAR is committed to engaging with the world’s billions of sports lovers. As part of this ambitious aim, the company recently introduced Neymar Jr. exclusive NFTs to its marketplace. The Ethereum-based, comic-inspired NFT collection (Beastmode) enables community voting to modify the lore.
With these recent actions, NFTSTAR has made its focus on the metaverse quite evident.
The Major Soccer Bet on the Metaverse
The NFTSTAR action is not an accident. There are a multitude of major players participating in Web3. At Rarity Sniper, we have documented numerous accounts of players, teams, and leagues extending their brands into the metaverse. Here are several you should be aware of:
FIFA teamed with the Upland metaverse in November. As part of the multi-year agreement, FIFA will release a number of Web3 games and applications. In addition to other fan engagement initiatives, the duo will offer a gamified experience for fans to collect and trade NFT highlights for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. However, this was not FIFA’s only metaverse cooperation.
FIFA joined the Roblox metaverse in October. Together, they created a virtual soccer environment with skill games, collector challenges, in-game events, and video content. Fans will be allowed to communicate, express their fandom, and honor the rich history of the beautiful game in the virtual world.
In September, LaLiga joined the metaverse in conjunction with DCL. LaLiga and Web3 businesses StadioPlus and Vegas City Limited formed a cooperation. They will introduce new experiences to Vegas City, the principal sports, casino, and entertainment hub in Decentraland.
Whether we’re discussing individuals like as Neymar, leagues such as LaLiga, or organizations such as FIFA, it is evident that soccer is placing a significant wager on the metaverse. And NFTSTAR’s efforts to establish the Global Sports Village are more evidence of this point.
