Next year, Metaverse Fashion Week will return

Decentraland, the biggest user-owned and run virtual social world in the world, has confirmed the return of Metaverse Fashion Week (MVFW) from March 28-31, 2023, closing the Spring/Summer Fashion season on virtual catwalks. Initiated by Decentraland and UNXD, a prominent immersive art & culture platform, in cooperation with the Spatial and OVER metaverses, MVFW23 encourages the global audience to experience the most latest events in metaversal interoperability and digital fashion. You can follow Metaverse news to know the latest fashion news.

This year’s most important digital fashion event, Metaverse Fashion Week 2022, was held for the first time in Decentraland. Over than 108,000 people attended and learned about the expanding world of wearables and digital fashion. Dolce & Gabbana, Tommy Hilfiger, Selfridges, Guo Pei, Paco Rabanne, and dozens of other well-known luxury brands showed the metaverse their historical style and technological visions of what digital fashion will look like. They also gave a sneak peek at how this new part of the economy will grow. During this year’s MVFW, both traditional fashion brands and new digital fashion brands gave away more than 165,000 free wearables.

“I am incredibly honored to be leading the second annual Metaverse Fashion Week and cannot wait to show the world what has developed since the last time we showcased the fashion revolution in the metaverse on a grand stage. Within one year, we have shown the world one of the strongest and most obvious use cases for the metaverse yet—digital fashion. After all, we don’t all want to look like dull copies of the same avatar in our digital lives. Just like in the real world, we all want to individualize and curate the personal aesthetics that we are recognized for,” said Dr. Giovanna Graziosi Casimiro, Head of Metaverse Fashion Week.

The idea of MVFW23 is “Future Heritage,” which is an attempt to bring together the next generation of creators and traditional fashion designers. This demonstrates how fashion has the power to connect different realities and worlds. The event shines a light on the fashion industry of today by presenting a variety of styles from different metaverses, connecting new ideas with old ones, and looking back at fashion’s greatest moments to help shape the future.

Together with Spatial and OVER, Decentraland will create the next generation of interoperability in an open and free metaverse. In the same way that New York Fashion Week and Paris Fashion Week aren’t limited to one style or one type of fabric, MVFW is growing to invite those who build digital fashion to think about the endless possibilities of interoperable metaverses where one can easily bring a Wearable to the other.
