Europe’s largest mobile and telecoms conference is returning.
The Mobile World Congress (MWC) starts in Barcelona on Monday, attracting more than 75,000 visitors and the most significant technological decision-makers. For technophiles, this meeting has good metaverse news.
Here is a summary of what to expect from this year’s conference and its impact on Barcelona.
5G advances – 6G is also on the agenda
The fifth generation of mobile networks, or 5G, is currently transferring more data – at a faster rate – to millions of devices across Europe. Hence, 5G will be one of the primary topics of the conference.
Numerous industries, ranging from electronics to medical, have found its increased bandwidth to be indispensable. It has already stimulated progress in virtual reality and the metaverse.
During MWC, there will be a focus on 5G’s successor, despite the fact that 5G is always evolving and gaining new technologies.
The sixth generation mobile network, or 6G, will be necessary for our increasingly connected world, with claimed use cases including autonomous driving (or flying) vehicles, smart cities, virtual and augmented reality, and space exploration. The completion of 6G is still years off.
Expanding metaverse
Companies will present the initial ventures into the metaverse, which are gradually but unquestionably affecting the way we live, work, and play.
In the next five years, the metaverse will “completely transform” the customer experience, according to MWC.
This year’s event will cover numerous topics, including immersive technologies, how the metaverse may alter schooling, and whether it is the future, a fad, or a hoax.
4YFN presents startups
According to Miquel Mart, CEO of Tech Barcelona, a private non-profit company that promotes Barcelona’s digital and technology ecosystem, “The focus is going to be on combining physical and virtual reality, and how that’s applied to some concrete solutions for people.”
Although though the event is dominated by well-known Technology and telecommunications companies, Mart’s company finds the Four Years From Now (4YFN) start-up event to be more exciting.
It highlights the most recent start-ups that are predicted to have a significant impact on the technology industry, with one of them being crowned the winner of the 4YFN Awards for 2023 at a show presented during the conference.
Barcelona’s effect
To Technology The MWC in Barcelona affords them the opportunity to advertise the start-ups with which they collaborate and build contacts.
Mart stated, “We’re going to give our members and our start-ups the chance to talk to make a pitch for millions, perhaps more than 50 companies are going to be pitching here in the hall for the event.”
According to Mart, the event will rejuvenate the city’s IT industry by attracting investors and businesses and encouraging them to remain in the area.
“We expect them to be more interested in what we’re doing and how we are developing our local projects and businesses,” he said.
And MWC is an important economic event for the city. The conference generally attracts more than 60,000 attendees, with the exception of years when it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic; this year is expected to be no different.
Mart said, “The impact in terms of a direct and indirect effect on the city is huge. You have more than 60,000 attendees, so the hotel industry, all the restaurants, all the city will feel the impact”.
He continued: “It’s not only about what’s happening in the fair, but also the different meetings that are being created and organised.”
In addition to collecting investors and the top management of special operations, people are likely holding meetings and dialogues that will define the future partnerships and solutions for people.
Mobile World Congress will run till Friday, March 2nd.
