Dolce & Gabbana and Tommy Hilfiger will bring back new virtual experiences for the event, and Coach and Adidas will show off their first digital wearables on the popular metaverse platform.
Next month, Decentraland will hold its second annual Metaverse Fashion Week (MVFW). The company announced Monday that a number of global brands will be there to show off their digital wearables.
Last year’s MVFW took place in Decentraland’s Luxury District, where this year’s event will also take place. Dolce & Gabbana and Tommy Hilfiger will be back with new collections, and Coach, Adidas, and DKNY will be showing for the first time.
This year, the event will focus on open metaverses and Web3 interoperability. To put on the event, Decentraland will work with digital fashion company UNXD, metaverse platform Spatial, and augmented reality company OVER. Its theme, “Future Heritage,” will focus on traditional fashion houses taking their first steps into Web3.
“We are seeing the return of many luxury fashion houses, and also the emergence and elevation of digitally native fashion,” said Dr. Giovanna Graziosi Casimiro, head of Metaverse Fashion Week, in a press release. “We are excited to see some of the world’s greatest fashion minds engaging in the future of fashion, and what it can mean for their communities.”
As part of the event, brands will host immersive digital experiences on and off the runway. For example, Dolce & Gabbana will show works from its Future Reward digital design competition, Tommy Hilfiger will launch new wearables daily along with AI-powered products, DKNY will open its pop-up art gallery and restaurant DKNY.3, and Adidas will show its first series of digital wearables for holders of its Into the Metaverse NFT collections.
The inaugural Metaverse Fashion Week was hosted by Decentraland in March 2022, with participation from brands including Estée Lauder and Forever 21. To test their footing in Web3, NFT-native brands and fashion houses collaborated to introduce pop-up, fashion shows, and digital experiences.
