Lego has formed a partnership with Epic Games, the developers of Fortnite, in order to enter the metaverse market. Isn’t it wonderful to see the name Lego, this amazing company, in the metaverse news?
The Danish toy manufacturer has announced plans to create a virtual world in collaboration with Epic Games so that its products can be accessed digitally within the metaverse. In virtual environments, Lego sets will be constructible.
Lego stated in its annual report, “We announced a partnership with Epic Games to explore building a fun and safe metaverse for children.”
Niels Christiansen, Lego’s CEO, remarked, “We know very well how to immerse consumers into the Lego universe in stores.
“We’re working very hard to create that feeling of getting into the Lego brand universe also digitally.”
In April 2021, Lego invested $2 billion (£1.7 billion) in Epic Games with the intention of developing a metaverse platform that would provide children with safe and secure digital spaces to interact with the brand.
In 2022, consumers purchased larger and more intricate Lego sets, resulting in a 17% increase in revenue to £7.7 billion, compared to the previous year.
The company, which is best known for its plastic brick-based toys, has successfully entered the digital sector with a line of Lego computer games for PC and consoles.
