The Swedish fashion house presented ten looks from their new Metaverse Design Story collection on the red carpet of London’s Royal Albert Hall, which served as the runway. Models Irina Shayk, Alva Claire, and Leomie Anderson, along with artist Joy Crookes and actor Shay Mitchell, sported key items from the new collection prior to its release on December 8.
The collection is intended to show how the lines between who we are in real life and who we are online are blurry. It does this by combining practicality (with an emphasis on being sustainable) with the fantasy of avatar-fashion. Crookes, who is 24 years old, told ELLE UK that she was going to The Fashion Awards. said that ‘British fashion is so interlinked with sub-culture and we have always had incredible sub-cultures historically, and what I think about British fashion is that it’s not just about your appearance, it’s about what it stands for and I have always loved that so much.’ On her own love of clothes: ‘For me it’s about uniform and expression. The way I dress isn’t just about looking nice, it’s about a statement and using my voice through materials.’
Crookes wore a brown bodysuit made from 87% recycled polyester from H&M, along with a blazer and trouser combo made from 33% organic silk and 67% Naia Renew cellulosic yarn. Model and former ELLE UK cover star Alva Claire stated that returning to the United Kingdom to promote British talent is essential. At this time of year, it seems as though everyone comes together for one occasion, and I believe that British fashion is the best fashion in the world and that we should celebrate it.
Claire wore a floor-length H&M evening gown with a bubble hem and a low-cut back for her red carpet debut.
